Projects and Evangelism

One of the things that I love doing is helping people and organizations adopt new technologies. Over the past few years I've worked on some great projects to that end. A few of them are listed below.

WindowsDevPro.com

Blurring the lines between development and IT, WindowsDevPro.com provides bi-weekly email updates on various IT and Development topics. The site is currently slated for a rewrite (to add more features), but I'm currently having a blast authoring bi-weekly .NET Briefings as a Mentor with the site.

SubservientProgrammer.com

SubservientProgrammer.com was commissioned by Microsoft to show off both AJAX functionality and .NET ClickOnce applications. I provided the coding for both the web and ClickOnce applications.

MSDN/Technet AJAX Content

I've authored a number of MSDN presentations over the past few years. I'm still waiting for externally available links, but two projects that I really enjoyed were:

•  AJAX Security Best Practices.
•  Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX Best Practices

SQL Server 2008 White Papers

In 2007 I was engaged to help Microsoft create White Papers and Datasheets that tout the benefits of SQL Server 2008 Compact and SQL Server 2008 Express Editions.

Other Web Projects

Additional Web Projects that I've worked on include some samples showcasing how to use a variety of controls to add presence functionality to corporate applications, and how to best address CSS styling issues when using ASP.NET controls.

•  Presence Sample for Web Based Applications
•  Partner Portal Starter kit for Microsoft Expression. (See my blog for information about getting the password needed to unlock the download files.)

Visual Studio Extensibility

I've also worked a good deal with Visual Studio Extensibility:

•  www.vssdk.com - An extensibility 'developer diary' commisioned by Microsoft.
•  I also authored the Visual Studio Extensibility Guided Tour which is found on msdn.microsoft.com.

Intel Projects

I've also had the opportunity to work on a couple of great projects for Intel, including

•  A number of Virtualization Tutorials and presentations showcasing how to take advantage of VMware and SQL Server.
•  A complex Digital Healthcare Sample Application and set of tutorials, designed to showcase how mobile applications can be used to help healthcare professionals decrease costs and improve patient care.
